iRobot Vacuum and Mop Review
Unlike some robot vacuums, this one isn't afraid of taking on the stairs. However, just like all vacuums and mops it is prone to getting blocked by debris, such as the stray tennis shoes or ribbons or yarn, play jewelry or other stray objects.
You can use the iRobot Home app to label rooms and establish no-go zones. It also lets you keep track of the progress of your mops as well as battery status.
iRobot Combo j7+
The Combo j7+ is a robot vacuum and mop that combines the smart mapping capabilities of iRobot and its ability to handle spills. It has the same acoustic sensor that is onboard and iAdapt 2.0 Navigation as other Roomba models and maps your home seven times faster than previous versions. It also lets you create Keep out Zones (for rooms that the robot is not allowed to enter) and Clean Zones (for rooms it should keep clean).
The j7's most important feature is its robotic arm, which keeps the mop pad locked away when it's not in use and allows it to clean carpets or hard flooring. In my tests the Combo J7+ was successful at avoiding water spraying on the rug. The robot didn't attempt to cross the rug, even though I moved it around many times.
The arm is equipped with a 240mL tank which is easy to remove and filled. This makes it much easier to use as opposed to the mop pads that are found on many other 2-in-1 robotic arm. It also uses iRobot's PrevisionVision technology to avoid obstacles, which is more advanced than some models of this kind.
iRobot Combo i5
It is designed to do mopping and vacuuming in one machine it is a great choice for multitaskers. Its vacuuming is done with a specially designed bin that can hold up to 60 days worth of debris, which iRobot claims can reduce the amount of dust released into the air during the process. The i5+ also comes with dual multi-surface rubber brushes as well as Power-Lifting Suction to take care of dirt, dust, pet hair and dirt on hard floors. When it's time to mop, simply switch in the Mopping Bin and a compatible cleaning solution.
The i5+ runs iRobot OS and becomes smarter the more you use it. It learns your floorplan, creating a Smart Map that remembers room names and your specific cleaning preferences. You can then direct it to clean a space or set a timer for the entire area of your home using the iRobot app.
iRobot is equipped with the ability to recognise household clutter like cords shoes, toys, and bags. It will then automatically stop and return to its base to dock for a recharge and finish the cleaning task at a later date. It is also compatible with voice commands such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Google Assistant, understanding around 600 voice commands - more than any other 2-in-1 robot.
iRobot Combo j5
This robotic mop and vacuum from iRobot will work well in homes with hard or carpeted floors. It utilizes intelligent mapping to remove obstacles and efficiently clean. It offers multiple mopping options including the SmartScrub system for removing tough staining. In addition, it can set No Mop Zones in order to ensure that carpets aren't getting sucked up. Additionally, its dock automatically refills mopping solutions. The model is more expensive than the previous Roomba Combo J7+ but comes with more features.
Its patented Mopping Drive System applies pressure to the floor for a deeper clean and removes tough staining. It also gets under furniture and tight spaces for an even more thorough cleaning. The Combo J5+ is compatible with the iRobot Clean Base for automatic dirt disposal.
It makes use of Smart Mapping to navigate your home 7 times faster than before5 and identify rooms with 90% accuracy6. It can even create a map of your whole home, allowing you to clean up any area you like after just one run. It can also avoid objects like backpacks, cords and toys. It will also avoid socks, shoes and kitty litter boxes. With the iRobot app you can plan your home's cleanings and control your robot from any location.
iRobot Combo i3
The iRobot Combo i3 has been updated from the original Roomba i3. It has the same great dirt compartment on the outside and an HEPA filter to keep allergens out, but now it also supports smart mapping. You can now create no-go areas to prevent the best mop and vacuum robot vacuum from vacuuming the same areas repeatedly. The i3 Plus has a lot of other amazing features, like its advanced cleaning system and 10x power-lifting vacuum. It also comes with the ability to clean in three stages. It also features a textured exterior to protect against fingerprints, dust and hairs of pets.
It is able to perform well on unfinished floors and cleans most of the debris, but it struggled with pet hair on low-pile carpets. It is a great choice with high pile carpets though and is much quieter than the other models. The i3 is a bit more expensive than the Roborock S4 Max, but it comes with a self-emptying mechanism that cleans the mop pads and replenishes the reservoir with water.
You can create cleaning schedules using the i3 App. You can also control your robot with your voice assistant to start or stop cleaning. It also tracks the unique layout of your home to offer a customized cleaning routine and schedule. It makes use of the most advanced mapping sensors to navigate hardwood and carpet, and learns your routine to improve performance.
iRobot Combo i2
The Combo i2 is the latest robot mop and vacuum from iRobot. It combines iRobot’s smart floor cleaning technology to make it a perfect option for homes with hard flooring and carpets or rugs. The Combo i2 has a combo system that lets it switch between vacuuming or mopping with the push of a button. It also has iRobot's advanced navigation technology. Its PrevisionVision navigation system is better than the average and will avoid obstacles - like power cords and stairs.
Its Smart Map remembers the rooms you clean and your preferences. It can even detect whether it's in a space that requires extra attention, such as the living room or kitchen. It also comes with the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal system, which empties dirt automatically for up to 60 days.
The dual multi-surface brush is another excellent feature of the Combo i2. They clean deeper than conventional mops, and remove dirt from corners and edges. The robot's acoustic sensor can do this. The Combo i2 is also equipped with powerful suction, as well as an intelligent design. It can be controlled via the iRobot app, voice assistants, and a schedule that can be programmed.
iRobot Combo i1
The Combo i1 is one of the only robot vacuums that can mop. When the unit is aware that a surface needs to be cleaned, it lifts and swings under it with an arm with a robotic design that has the cleaning pad. The back has a dustbin and water tank that can be removed to supply cleaning solution. The robot is equipped with a Bona cleaning product, however it can also be used with other brands.
The Combo i1 is unlike most robot vacuums as it can bring the mophead back to the top of its robot when it detects carpet. This allows it to vacuum and then wipe the carpet clean using its microfiber cloths and ensure that the surfaces are spotless. It is equipped with a range of sensors and impressive navigation capabilities to stay clear of obstacles such as furniture and cords.
It also has an upgraded battery to last longer and self-emptying mode that decreases the frequency of emptying the dustbin. It's an excellent choice for families who want the convenience of a single robot, but with the flexibility offered by the various cleaning modes. It can be controlled by an audio command using Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices. It can be programmed to begin and stop at certain times.
iRobot Combo i4
This iRobot robotic mop and vacuum is perfect for anyone who wants to keep their home clean without lifting a finger. It is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it using voice commands. It also has smart mapping technology, so you can set up a schedule and the robot will do the task for you.
It features a slim-profile docking station that doesn't take up much space. It also has a movable dirt compartment. However it's impossible to view the inside of the compartment since it's constructed of transparent plastic. The i4 also lacks some features, including keep-out zones, as well as the AI-powered obstacle avoidance found on the j7 and+ models.
However, it does come with a powerful vacuum system and rubber brushes that do not get tangled by pet hair. It's a great option for homes with high-pile carpets because it can handle more dirt and debris than less powerful vacuums. The i4 requires less maintenance and has lower costs for recurring maintenance and can run longer in its lowest suction mode.
